Many scholarly and peer-reviewed articles can be read open access today on the web. A number of free services and archives have developed tools and services helping users to discover research output in an easy and simple way: through installing a browser extension or plug-in; by using academic search engines and archives, or, by contacting the author directly. In the following text, we list a selection of services and ways to find scientific articles. The choice is yours.
Welcome to LOA2018 and a new bi-annual conference dedicated to licensing and open access questions arranged by the National Library of Sweden. The focus of LOA2018 will be on the transition from a subscription-based to an open access publishing system. The morning sessions will be held in English.
In an academic world transitioning from “paying for reading” to “paying for publishing” and not both, it makes sense to sign agreements with publishers to “offset” the publishing costs against reading costs to prevent total costs from skyrocketing.
